Subcultural Sound and Motion

Documenting three resident recording artists through high-contrast street portraits, tactile 35mm grain, and unmastered control room playback recorded across Brooklyn basements.

Resident Sessions

Three Distinct Voices

Profile 01 // Grime & Breaks

Kaelen Vance

Captured across three rainy nights in an industrial printshop. Vance pairs syncopated breakbeats with distorted vocal layers tracked straight into a four-track cassette deck.

Profile 02 // Noise & Ambient

Sloan Mara

Recorded live in a decommissioned rail yard substation. Mara runs modular patch cables through tape delays, building low-end resonance documented on grainy high-contrast monochrome film.

Profile 03 // Street Percussion

Marrow Collective

A five-piece drum ensemble tracking rhythm loops directly onto half-inch magnetic tape under sodium streetlamps behind an auto repair shop in South Brooklyn.

From the Desk

They shot our entire reel in the basement boiler room where we cut the masters. No fake smoke, no rented studio lighting, just our speakers and pure tape grit.
